Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals require acceptance of a Rental Agreement, which will be provided during booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle collection. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Requirements for Vehicle Rental
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire in Accrington, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle type. Drivers under 25 may incur additional fees. A valid full driving licence for the relevant vehicle category is required, along with valid identification and proof of your current address. Payment information and a security deposit must be provided, along with any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Accrington office. A deposit may be needed to confirm your booking. The total payment and a security deposit are generally required upon vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment providers.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection of the vehicle and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be completed and signed by both parties. The vehicle must be returned in the same condition as received, taking into account normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and additional charges may apply. Ensure the vehicle is returned with the same fuel level as when it was collected, as refueling fees will be incurred if it is lower. Late returns may result in extra charges, so please inform us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You are accountable for any parking tickets, traffic violations, or charges that arise during your rental, along with a related administration fee.
Insurance and Liability Coverage
- All rentals include basic third-party insurance, with full coverage details and excess amounts outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to limit your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the insurance excess amount unless additional coverage is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms will be your responsibility, regardless of insurance.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the booking type and the notice period provided. For detailed information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows may incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- The vehicle must not be used for any illegal activities. This includes racing, rallying, off-roading, or engaging in other risky behaviors. Transportation of hazardous materials is prohibited. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not allowed. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly forbidden. The vehicle should not be used for purposes it is not suited for, and passenger or weight limits must not be exceeded. Driving beyond agreed geographical boundaries without proper permission is also prohibited.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental termination and extra fees.
Limitation of Responsibility
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Car Hire Accrington is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, related to your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will be limited to the amount paid for your rental in the last 12 months. This limitation does not affect liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence, or for fraudulent conduct.
9. Applicable Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be addressed in the English and Welsh courts.
Terms Update Notification
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. Changes take effect immediately upon being posted on our website. Continued use of our services indicates your acceptance of the revised Terms.
